Prices & Payment
Community Eligibility Provision
Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) is a Metro District initiative that allows K-12 schools in high-poverty to be provided free breakfast and lunch. CEP aims to reduce food insecurity among students and provide a positive learning environment for all students. Families that qualify for CEP receive financial assistance based on the percentage of students directly certified for assistance through means such as participation in SNAP or TANF programs. This ensures that all students have access to nutritious meals essential for their academic success.
Lunch Price Overview
Metro district lunch prices vary by educational level to meet the unique needs of each age group while maintaining affordability. For elementary students, lunches are priced at $4.00, providing younger students with nutritious, child-friendly meal options. Middle school students, who may have greater nutritional requirements, pay $5.00 per lunch, which offers more robust and diverse choices to accommodate growing appetites. High school lunches are priced at $6.25, with additional options and larger portions to meet the needs of older students. Reduced-price lunch options are available across all grade levels for eligible students, helping ensure that all students have access to healthy meals each day.
How insufficient funds are handled
Our school district has a clear and supportive charge policy to help ensure that all students have access to nutritious meals, even if they occasionally lack funds in their meal accounts. If a student’s meal account has insufficient funds, they may charge up to three lunches before alternate arrangements are made. Parents are notified promptly of low or negative account balances and are encouraged to make payments online through our secure portal or by sending cash or checks directly to the school. For ease of use, the online payment system accepts multiple forms of payment and allows families to set up automatic balance alerts. Families needing additional support are encouraged to apply for free or reduced-price meals, ensuring every student can focus on learning rather than hunger.
